"The Art of Listening to Scent: KODO 2026" is a special program introducing Kōdō, the Japanese Way of Incense, at Tortoise General Store. Through a guided workshop and a Genjiko (Genji Incense) experience, participants are invited to "listen" to fragrance as a contemplative, embodied practice.
The program includes an introduction to the history and cultural background of Kōdō, guidance on core concepts, tools, and manners. Guests then take part in a Genjiko session and have time for questions about Kōdō's contemporary relevance and artistic context. Total duration is approximately 90 minutes.
The workshop will be held at Tortoise General Store, with chair seating rather than tatami. Participation is limited to adults aged 18+, and a strict scent‑free policy, late arrival policy, and no‑refund policy are in place to protect the integrity of the incense experience and the quiet atmosphere of the ceremony. Please refer to the ticketing page for full details and important notices.
