To ensure a smooth experience at KODO 2026, we have compiled answers to frequently asked questions. These cover information common to all venues. For any additional inquiries, please contact us via the contact form on each ticketing page.


Who can attend?

A: All programs are for adults aged 18+. Unfortunately, minors are not eligible to participate.


Can I wear perfume?

A: We have a strict scent-free policy to preserve the incense experience. Please refrain from perfume, cologne, scented lotions, hair products, etc. Entry may be denied if scents interfere.


What is the program content?

A: Introduction to KODO history and culture, explanation of tools and manners, hands-on Monko experience (available only at select venues/times), Genjiko gaming session, and Q&A. Each program runs between 75–100 minutes.


Are there handouts or souvenirs?

A: KODO reference materials are available to take-home. Nippon Kodo incense will also be gifted.


What should I wear?

A: Casual, comfortable clothing. Please remove rings, watches, and bracelets to protect incense tools. All venues use chair seating (not tatami).


Can I attend if I'm sensitive to scents?

A: Natural fragrant woods are used. Those sensitive to smoke or fragrance should consult us beforehand.


Can I take photos/videos?

A: Photos and filming are permitted as long as they do not disrupt the program. We kindly ask that you remain mindful of other participants' experience.


Do I need prior KODO experience?

A: No prior experience is required. We’ll guide you through the basics to help you get started.


Where can I park?

A:


  • IAO: Street parking or nearby public parking

  • JACCC: Street parking or nearby public parking

  • TGS: Street parking or nearby lots


How long is the program?

A:


  • IAO: ~100 minutes

  • JACCC: 75–90 minutes

  • TGS: 75–90 minutes


What if I'm late?

A: We kindly ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes before the start time. Unfortunately, late arrivals may not be able to join, and refunds are not available.


Can I get a refund or cancel?

A: Please refer to each venue's ticketing page for refund policies.

*Please note that the event may be canceled if the minimum number of participants (five) is not reached 48 hours before the scheduled start time. In such cases, we will contact registered participants individually and issue a full refund.
